our congregation

Our Congregation, the Dominican Sisters of the Regina Rosarii, is a community of consecrated women called to be Salt of the Earth. The founding community, composed of Sister Mary Carmen C. Advincula, OP., Sister Mary Amelia F. Brasil, OP., Sister Mary Matthew F. Brasil, OP., Sister Mary Epifania F. Brasil, OP., Sister Mary Violeta P. Sobremisana, OP., and Sister Mary Sarah R. Ronda, OP., were former members of the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines.

They heard the call of the Spirit to start a new branch of the Dominican family where they can be contemplative witnesses, following Jesus, Friend of the Poor and Healer of the Broken. They responded to the call to live a consecrated life that is more contemplative and more trusting in God’s Providence.

After twenty months of serious prayer and discernment, they formally asked to be released from their affiliation with the former congregation on May 5, 2005. They moved on with the blessings of their former Prioress General, Rev. Mo. Felicitas Macsera, OP. On the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, May 13, 2005, the founding community was blessed and accepted by Rev. Fr. Edmund Nantes, OP., Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of the Philippines at Bahay Dominiko, Quezon City. Their first residence was at the Regina Rosarii Center for Contemplative Prayer, then located at 55 Scout Santiago St., Timog, Quezon City. They were under the protection of the Most Rev. Fernando Capalla, DD., Archbishop of Davao and at that time President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) whose formal protection letter came on July 2, 2005.

The founding community continued the apostolate they have previously started: Conduct retreats, recollections and seminars; Accompaniment in Contemplative Prayer and Devotion to Regina Rosarii; Broadcast ministry through radio and cellphone; and Socio-pastoral Services.

On October 31, 2005, the founding community transferred to a new center located at 70 Scout Fernandez St., Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City. On the feast of our Lady of Miraculous Medal, November 27, 2005, the new center was blessed and the sisters renewed their vows in the presence of Most Rev. Fernando Capalla, DD. By December 13, 2005, the community received the formal letter of recognition from the Bishop of Cubao, Most Rev. Honesto F. Ongtioco, DD.

On the feast of the Annunciation, March 25, 2006, the community will end their founding Chapter. On that day, the constitutions will be officially approved.

 Our Lady is RICA!

RICA is a Spanish word that means rich lady. We depict our Lady as a Queen,
Regina, the Queen of the Holy Rosary. A Lady, so highly favored and richly blest. She is the woman, full of grace.

The first Regina Rosarii Shrine in the Philippines is at the Dominican Heights, Tagum Davao. Jose Barcena Jr., Jojo our artist and sculptor depicted our Lady like Our Lady of la Naval. The second Regina Rosarii Statue is at the Rosary hill in Tagaytay. The third Regina Rosarii statue is the 30 –foot revolving statue on top of the roof deck of the motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii.

We have always been singing, the Regina Rosarii hymn, Oh the Lady is waiting on top of the hill … yet she stands on top of our roof deck.

This time, we made good what we are singing. She is now standing on top
of the hill at Regina RICA!

We searched for land that will be a venue for this ministry and thank God after looking through 20 properties, our Lady led us to a 13.5 hectare land in the hills of Tanay Rizal. It has 3 waterfalls, a creek, 10,000 trees and a lot of promise for the renewal of this wonderful path to God, experienced by St. Catherine of Siena, the Rhineland Mystics, and many men and women who discovered the extra-ordinary in all the ordinary events in life. RICA, is now found! The Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia (RICA) will be a venue for serenity, silence and stillness in our noisy and harried world. RICA is our response to continue our ministry of bringing healing, hope and hospitality to all those who look up to our Lady, so highly favored, so abundantly blest.

The RICA LOGO

The two mountains are the signature symbol of Regina Rica. The two hills are centrally located on the 13.5 hectare land. It means El Shaddai, the breast of God, the God of abundance. The three trees symbolize the three ways in which RICA will function: A Prayer place, Ecological Sanctuary and a Wellness environment. The Dominican Symbol is filled by 13 rays. The rays symbolize the day our Lady chose to reveal herself from May 13 to October 13 to the 3 children in Fatima as the Queen of the Rosary, Regina Rosarii.
