article > FINDING GOD IN REGINA RICA
By Sister Eppie Brasil, OP
Our artist Jojo likes to have fun. As a child, he started working and doing simple sculpture at the age of five. Clearly, he has a back subject! Playing! Jojo loves to play around, teasing dogs, teasing his workers. Maybe that is the reason his workers are so faithful and dedicated to him and to their job. Sometimes, he would sit inside a big empty flower pot and listen to the reaction of people as they see our Lady on top of the hill. He hears their conversation and enjoys the acclaim of the people especially as they talk about the peace and harmony they feel as they sit in prayer or simply listen to music or watch the clouds drift by slowly.
I am reminded of Michelangelo who would loiter around the Pieta, listening to people praise or criticize his work. At some stage some pilgrims entered into a discussion as to the artist who made the Pieta. One said, I am very sure this is the work of Leonardo da Vinci. Immediately that night, he entered the Vatican church and inscribed his full name on the Statue. It looked like a sash of honor, but indeed people then knew the artist of the Pieta was Michelangelo.
This special edition of Sacred Space is going to be a tribute of thanksgiving to our Lady Regina Rosarii. She has gathered so many pilgrims from all walks of life. Every corner and cranny of Regina RICA has a story to tell and reveal. We invite you to take time to pause and read through the pages of Sacred Space Magazine. Each article presented here is just a simple and down to earth revelation of how they have been touched by the trees, the sheep, the cape of our Lady, the walk, the dawn rosary etc. We hope you too can come and visit our Lady, whisper to the angels your deepest aspirations and just look up and pray.
Why is our Lady so big? Well, she is a most powerful intercessor. She will bring our prayers to her Son, Jesus. As we sit, walk, climb, wander and wonder at Regina RICA you will see that God is present in everything. God indeed speaks in all things, in all events, in every drop of rain that falls on RICA ground. Discover and dream with us. We still need to build more amenities for you. But as we waved our handkerchief to an imaginary image of our Lady last October 7, 2009, we also believe that the invisible Institute will be a reality soon; just as our Lady on top of the hill is a reality now.
Our lady, Regina Rosarii, virgin most powerful, pray for us.
